BUPA Pull-out Bad For Consumers Health
The withdrawal from the market of BUPA indicates the complete lack of realistic competition in this, and many other areas, for Irish consumers.
Profit is the driving agenda and this decision spells that out definitively.
Consumers must now look to demanding a far better regime as we enter into an election year - a year where health insurance provision and its cost is almost entirely provided and determined by a single dominant and semi-state monopoly.
This is a bad day for consumers and a worse day for competition in Ireland.
